Har Hazeitim —The Mount of Olives
Har Hazeitim — The Mount of Olives — is Judaism's oldest and holiest cemetery, the resting place of more than 150,000 Jewish souls. And yet through neglect and acts of hatred, it has been desecrated, its graves destroyed, and visitors and mourners attacked. Thanks to the efforts of the International Committee for Har Hazeitim (ICHH), founded in May 2010, much has been done to stop the defilement of this hallowed ground. Fences were built, security cameras installed and monitored, police patrols increased (through established police sub-station), and tough new laws on the desecration of graves and on violence against mourners and visitors were passed. Your support is needed to assure that Har Hazeitim remains secure and never returns to the deplorable conditions that existed prior to 2010.
